Ariana Grande y Taylor Swift lideran la lista de nominaciones de los MTV Video Music Awards 2019. Ambas artistas cuentan con 10 candidaturas, incluidas las categorías de Video del año y Mejor canción. Rosalía pone el toque español, al ser haber conseguido estar nominada a Mejor artista revelación, enfrentándose a Billie Eilish y Lil Nas X, como también a Mejor artista latina.
En esta edición, los premios incluirán dos nuevas categorías: Mejor K-Pop y Video for Good. "Ha sido un año increíble para la música y este grupo de nominados refleja a la perfección el escenario tan rico para la música pop", ha declarado Bruce Gillmer, jefe de música y talento musical de Global Entertainment Group, de Viacom, en un comunicado.
"Estamos deseando ver el resultado, una vez los fans se involucren. ¡Va a ser una noche alucinante y memorable!", comentaba Gillmer. Desde el 24 de julio hasta el 15 agosto, los fans podrán votar a sus artistas favoritos entre las 14 categorías sin distinción por géneros, incluyendo Vídeo del año.
Puede hacerse entrando en la página web oficial, vma.mtv.com, teniendo a la categoría de Mejor artista revelación, en la que compite Rosalía, abierta hasta el mismo momento de la emisión de los VMA.
Por primera en la historia, MTV recompensará a los fans por votar mediante el VMA Power Hour, donde sus votos valdrán el doble entre las 18:00h y las 19:00h todos los días.
